Home Depot has agreed to pay $72.5M to settle a class action lawsuit that alleges Home Depot failed to properly pay over 272,000 non-exempt employees in California since March 2012.  The settlement covers night shift employees who were required to remain at the store off-the-clock after the store closed and was locked, employees who were not paid for time spent collecting and putting on aprons, and to employees who lost pay because Home Depot rounded their clock-in and clock-out times to the nearest quarter hour.  Home Depot denied any wrongdoing but decided to settle the lawsuit to avoid the burden, cost, and uncertainty of litigation.

What would a respectful workplace have done?

Respectful workplaces pay non-exempt employees for all hours worked, including when required for donning and doffing, do not permit any off-the-clock work, and do not round time clock punch times to the detriment of employees.  Are you sure your managers understand what is compensable time?
